Young Appointed as NCAA Tennis Committee Chair
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Director of Tennis and women’s tennis head coach Chris Young has been selected as the chair of the NCAA Tennis Committee for the 2024-25 season.
Young began a second term as a member of the committee on Sept. 1, with it set to last through 2028. The committee consists of 12 highly-regarded school and conference administrators within the sport of tennis that are tasked with seeding, bracketing and managing the NCAA Tennis Championships.
“It’s an honor to serve our sport and the NCAA Tennis Committee,” Young said. “This is an important time with the transition of the individual championships to the fall semester, and I am humbled to be the chair and lead during this time.”
In 15 years at Oklahoma State, Young has compiled a coaching record of 269-112 (.706), 13 winning seasons and 12-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. He has also collected an ITA Indoor National Championship, five Big 12 championships and an appearance in the NCAA title match in 2016.
Young and the Cowgirls are coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, going 29-1 and breaking team records for win percentage (.967) and win streak (29). Young also led Oklahoma State’s efforts in hosting the Big 12 and NCAA Tennis Championships for the first time in school history.
