STILLWATER – After a series win over then-No. 5/6 Florida State, the Oklahoma State softball team slots in at to No. 2/2 in the national rankings. The Pokes are ranked No. 2 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and No. 2 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25.

After dropping game one on Friday in a back-and-forth battle that favored the Seminoles, 7-5, the Cowgirls responded the very next day with a run-rule victory in five innings over the Seminoles, 9-1. Saturday’s victory marked an Oklahoma State program record for the largest margin of victory over a top-five opponent.

 

The rubber match on Sunday was another close game, where OSU pieced together a three-run sixth inning to propel it past FSU and secure the series victory, 3-2.

 

On the season, OSU improved to 20-2, including 10 run-rule victories. Twenty victories through their first 22 games of the season ties this year’s team with the 2021 Cowgirls for the fastest to reach 20 wins in the Gajewski era.

 

OSU travels to Conway, Ark., for a midweek matchup against Central Arkansas, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and the Varsity Network.

 

The Cowgirls then welcome Arizona State and Central Florida to Stillwater for the 15th edition of the OSU Mizuno Classic from March 17-19.
