(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / August 1, 2017) – The Oklahoma State cross country program released its schedule for the upcoming 2017 season that includes two home events to open the year, Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Dave Smith announced Tuesday.
OSU opens up its season in Stillwater with the Cowboy Preview on September 1. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will then have nearly a month off before hosting their second and final home meet of the season in the 81st running of the Cowboy Jamboree scheduled for September 30.
The Cowboys will run for their 23rd Jamboree team win and will have the chance to make it eight-straight team titles under Smith, which would tie the Cowboys with Arkansas for the men's consecutive wins record. The Cowgirls are aiming for their 12th win and look to reclaim the team title after finishing second last year.
Both teams will close out the regular season with a trip to State College, Pennsylvania, to run in the Penn State Invitational, where the men took first last year and the women finished fourth. The teams will then gear up for the Big 12 Championships two weeks later in Austin, Texas.
The Cowboys are going for 10 consecutive conference titles and OSU is the only current Big 12 men’s cross country team with a Big 12 Championship to its name. The Cowgirls won their first Big 12 title in 2015 and look to pick up their second conference championship after finishing second last year.
