STILLWATER — Oklahoma State softball opened its 2022 fall season with a 19-7 win over the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Wednesday evening at Cowgirl Stadium.
Junior transfer Ivy Rosenberry got the nod in the circle for the Cowgirls, making her first appearance in the Orange and Black. The former Virginia Tech Hokie pitched three scoreless innings, fanned three opposing batters and earned the win in the exhibition contest.
In the circle for the first time as a Cowgirl was Kyra Aycock. Hailing from Newnan, Georgia, the freshman struck out a pair of Drovers in three innings of work.
After a scoreless first, the Cowgirls’ bats came to life in the second, as they scored nine runs to take an early lead they would never relinquish.
OSU tacked on two more runs in the third, bringing the score to 11-0 after three innings. Morgan Wynne hit the Pokes’ first home run of the fall season at the fifth inning to add onto the lead.
Lexi Kilfoyl, a two-way senior transfer from Alabama, ended things on a high note as she hit her first bomb in a Cowgirl uniform to put the Cowgirls up 16-7 in the 10th.
OSU tacked on three more runs in the inning on an RBI triple from freshman Claire Timm.
Offensively, the Cowgirls tallied 19 runs on 21 hits with three errors in the game.
Oklahoma State continues its fall slate with a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 1, in Kansas City when it takes on Wichita State and Kansas City at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
