STILLWATER, Okla. – In its return to the Greenwood Tennis Center, the 36th-ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team bested No. 43 Tulane, 4-3.
With the victory, OSU improved to 10-0 at home this season. This accolade marks the program's longest single-season home winning streak since the 2014-15 season, in which they won 12 consecutive home games.
The Green Wave made a splash early as Billy Suarez and Benji Jacobson dropped Carl Roothman and Alessio Basile on court two, 6-2.
Back-and-forth matches ensued on courts one and three throughout doubles play, resulting in two tiebreaker sets.
Alex Garcia and Francisco Pini marked the board first for the Cowboys, netting a 7-6(5) triumph over Fynn Kuenkler and Rafael de Alba on court three.
In a decisive court-one showdown, No. 78 pairing Tyler Zink and Chase Ferguson dropped Luka Petrovic and Sam Scherer 7-6(1) to clinch the doubles point for the Pokes.
Garcia posted a quick-fire victory on court four, downing Luc Hoeijmans, 6-1, 6-0, to extend the OSU lead. For Tulane, de Alba replied with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Leighton Allen to put the Green Wave on the board.
In a ranked matchup, No. 90 Zink took down No. 114 Kuenkler, 6-3, 6-2, to post a 3-1 lead. However, Alex Bancila tightened the gap for the Green Wave, taking down Francisco Pini, 6-4, 6-0.
After losing his first set, Becroft put up a valiant effort in his second set versus Petrovic. Trailing 5-1 in the set, the junior won three-consecutive games, but ultimately fell short, losing 6-4, 6-4.
With all eyes on court three, Ferguson clinched the match for OSU, defeating Suarez, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Oklahoma State will take a two-match trip to Texas, taking on Texas and TCU, before returning home versus Oklahoma on April 6.
