Stillwater Christmas Parade of Lights 2020

Lights, Camera, Action! "Christmas at the Movies" 

Christmas around Stillwater may look a little differently this year, but Christmas won’t be cancelled!! Many plans are in the works, including the Stillwater Christmas Parade of Lights. 

We won’t have the traditional parade in Downtown Stillwater, but we do plan on lots of lights and fun for the entire community. 

This year, the parade will be in the form of what my kids would call, “Backwards Day”. The idea is you get to decorate at your own location, we will publicize those locations, and the community and visitors to Stillwater will drive around and check out what you have created. 

We will still have a competition with some cash prizes for our community winners and our traveling trophies for our corporate/business winners. So, decorate for the theme, and use lots of lights. This is still a nighttime event.  Of course, you can have yours up and going for daytime viewing, but we want to see those lights. 

Following are the details, as obviously things will be a little different this year.

In case you did not notice yet, the parade will be earlier(date) than usual.  We are kicking off Stillwater Holidays 2020. There will be many things going on in Stillwater between November 14th and January 10th.  Be sure to check with to keep up with all the events going on throughout the community.

As stated above, we will still have the competition portion, so as years before prizes will be awarded.  The funds from your entry fee goes back into the community in 2 ways.  We award our Community Division cash prizes (This is a chance to help give back to the groups that support our parade. And, also help them to earn back some cash toward their annual fundraising effort). And, we award traveling trophies to our Commercial division entries. The money from all entry fees go back to help provide a Christmas to kids and families in our area that might need a little more assistance this time of the year.

So, what do you need to do? Follow the link, fill out our form, you can pay your entry fee at that time, and then have your lights up and ready no later than 6pm on Saturday, November 14th. We will take care of the rest. There will be maps provided with your location and information and travelers will be driving all over town to see the wonderful sights of Stillwater, OK.

A few notes: 

  • We are going to promote that people stay in their cars during the parade drive around to look and see.
  • During the “Parade” we will have judges also driving around judging your entries. 
  • Awards for 1stplace, Best Use of Lights and Best Use of Theme for our Commercial Division
  • Awards for 1st,2nd, and 3rd for our Community Division as well as Best Use of Theme and Best Use of Lights.
  • No handing out items at your location. We want to keep traffic moving. We will not be encouraging people to stop and walk up to your location.
  • Santa will be set up in a very special location. As always, we request that you please do not have Santa as part of your entry.
  • Once you enter, if we feel there will be a traffic issue with your location, we will contact you about options.   

Categories (definition of):

Commercial: A Commercial group is one that represents a for-profit corporation or entity (Kinnunens, Eskimo Joe’s, and Simmons Bank).

Community: A Community group is one that represents a not-for-profit organization or entity, e.g., scout groups, neighborhood groups, churches, school groups, etc.

Entry Fees: Remember, this is a fundraiser for our area. Over the years we have been able to help make Christmas happen for many local children and families.  And provide a little funding to community groups. So, remember your entry fee goes to make something positive happen.

Commercial:  $50                   Community:  $25                    Entry (but not participating in the contest): $25
