LexiCon Prop-weapon Guidelines for All Venues
These guidelines apply to all LexiCon venues: Stillwater Public Library, Stillwater Community Center, Prairie Arts Center, History Museum at the Sheerar, and Stonecloud. All prop weapons must be approved by staff or weapons check volunteers. Staff have the final decision on whether a weapon is appropriate or not and have full discretion in denying weapon entry. Weapons denied entry must be returned to your vehicle.
Costumes
- Must be PG-13 as this is a family-friendly event. No explicit or overly gory costumes are allowed.
- No loose glitter, confetti, projectiles, objects emitting smoke, vapors, or excessive noise or light are permitted.
- For safety purposes, all attendees must wear footwear.
Prop-Weapons
Bladed weapons must:
- Not be made of metal or otherwise constructed of materials to make it useful as an action weapon
- Not have a sharpened edge
- Not have a sharp point
- No knives or pocket knives are allowed
Projectile firing weapons must be either:
- Obviously non-functional (doesn't shoot anything) or
- Not harmful (just shoots Nerf) and unloaded
- No real guns, Airsoft, BB, blow guns, paintball guns, etc. are allowed
- No live ammunition is allowed
Costume destructive devices (grenade, etc.) must be:
- Obviously not real and not functional
- Nothing explosive is allowed
Archery weapons must:
- Bows may have a string OR be accompanied by arrows (but not both)
- Arrows must have sharp tips removed and be bound together in a quiver
