(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Jan. 19, 2016) – The Stillwater Public Library and AARP Tax Aide Program will once again be providing tax assistance to community members this year. Individual preparation services begin Feb. 2 and run through April 13, while a limited number of tax products will be offered throughout tax season.

“The federal government seems to be phasing out paper forms,” said Lynda Reynolds, library director. “We will continue to provide whatever items the IRS offers for as long as they keep offering them. This year, we will actually be getting a few more items than were available last year.”

According to Reynolds, the library will be receiving the forms and instruction booklets for the 1040, 1040 EZ and 1040 A. It will also have Oklahoma 511 packets, Oklahoma Non-resident 511packets and federal business items such as Form 1099 MISC and W-2s.

“Arrival of the tax products has been erratic the last few years,” said Reynolds. “We will place items out as soon as they are received, but we sometimes do not get them until late January, or even later. Status of our receipt of tax products will be posted on our webpage.”

For community members who need help preparing tax forms, AARP tax aide volunteers will be on-hand to help people prepare and electronically file their returns at the Stillwater Public Library beginning Feb. 2.  The volunteers will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. until tax season ends.

Aides will also be available at the Senior Center Mondays-Thursdays from 9:30 a.m.-noon beginning Feb. 1.

Taxpayers should bring the following documents with them for AARP Tax Aide help:

  • Social Security Cards for the taxpayer, spouse, and dependents.
  • Photo identification such as a driver’s license.
  • A copy of TY 2014 Federal and State income tax returns.
  • All forms indicating federal income tax paid
  • All 1099 forms of any kind (1099-MISC, INT, DIV, B, R)

  • Unemployment compensation statements
  • Bank Routing Numbers and Account Numbers for Direct Deposit.
