Comedy beckoned the working mother of three at just the right time. Disenchanted with corporate America and inundated by the challenges of marriage and family, the Texas native channeled the weight of emotion, disappointments and untapped creativity into a hysterical declaration of her life altering experiences. Since 1991, the birth of each of her daughters has inspired her to pursue a better, fulfilling future. The idiosyncrasies of married life unintentionally contributed copiously to her witty material. A chance encounter with an open mic in Houston, Texas in 1998 revealed Lindner’s heart beats for stand-up. Her catharsis began when she boldly transferred her hilarious interpretation of life to the stage. She’s raw and relatable, painting a vivid image of reality every one can appreciate. Her tongue in cheek description of her children’s willingness to wear garbage bags to subsidize her earnings as a stand up comic is indicative of the support and encouragement that helps fuel her passion. A decade in, her distinct, edgy style and material ranks her among the nation’s most talented comics. Lindner’s likeability is deliriously satisfying.

Today, her sardonic take on marriage and raising children resonates so profoundly with her audiences she is considered one of the funniest, most pragmatic voices of modern, adorably flustered femininity. Her love of comedy and flair for theater blends skillfully with her quirky approach to family as she guides you through the trials and triumphs of every day life through humor. Whether she is performing at Houston’s world famous Laff Stop and Improv comedy clubs, the Comic Strip in El Paso, or headlining top venues in Tennessee, Louisiana and Colorado, Lindner brings powerful honesty and amusing reality to every must-see show. Neville is excited to have their second female headliner coming to Funnies, especially after such a successful show with their first female headliner a few months ago.

“I am really picky about the comics we choose to put on our stage,” explains Neville. “We could trust every single comic that emails me calling themselves a ‘headliner.’ But I research all these people, look at video clips, check their credits and call local references. It’d be a lot easier to just phone it in, but I’m not going to do that. Kristin fits our model very well and once we saw how audiences responded to Gretchen Hess in November, I’m looking very seriously at more female comics.”

This show will mark a one year anniversary for Funnies Comedy Club at the Wyndham Garden hotel. Funnies opened in January 2011 in a different location but relocated to improve service to their guests.

“We’re glad to be a part of the entertainment offered by the Wyndham,” Neville adds. “It’s one of Stillwater’s nicer hotels and I think that says a lot about the quality of entertainment we provide. Yes, you may be laughing at some vulgar jokes, but the setting is as close to a regular, full-time comedy club as we can offer in a one-nighter. We try to go above-and-beyond for all of our guests, whether it be recognizing a birthday or anniversary or thanking them personally for coming to each show. That’s the way it should be in most places.”

Crowds have been pouring in for shows at Funnies, especially over the last few months. They have had two bona fide sold out shows at the end of 2013 and nearly sold out January’s show, so Neville encourages those attending to get their tickets early.

“It seems like people in this town wait until the last minute to decide they are coming to a show -- any show, not just ours,” Neville says. “That has proven unwise for some guests recently. If you want to sit at the front of the room, don’t buy tickets at 7:00 the night of a show. We reserve tables as ticket sales come in and have already sold a majority of the front half of the room for the early show on Valentine’s Day. That’s also why we offer a late show. If you can’t get the seats you want for the early show, consider staying late and we’ll do what we can. There’s really not a bad seat in the house, but some seats are definitely better than others.”
