Town & Gown Theatre presents its second “On the Edge” production of its 73rd season, “Every Brilliant Thing,” which runs March 2-4.  When Mom is in the hospital and Dad says she’s “done something stupid,” there’s not much a seven-year-old can do. Ice cream… water fights… staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV… These are the first items on a list of every brilliant thing in the world worth living for.

“Every Brilliant Thing” was written by Duncan Macmilan and first staged in 2013. Town & Gown Theatre will be presenting its production for a one-weekend limited run as a part of its “On the Edge” series. Town & Gown’s current season hosts two “On the Edge” shows in addition to its regular five-show season. These shows offer only three performances as opposed to the regular season shows which run for eight to ten performances.

Directed by OSU senior Dakota Norman, the production team consists primarily of OSU students, including sophomores Alyssa Dunavant and Jenna Hooper, junior Dallas Rogers, and senior Liz Calandra. Norman made his Town & Gown acting debut in 2018 in “The Addams Family.” He has since been seen in many other shows both at Town & Gown and Oklahoma State University, including “The Wedding Singer,” “Sweeney Todd,” and more. A teacher at Stillwater Children’s Theatre, Norman is making his official directorial debut with “Every Brilliant Thing.”  “It has been a thrill to lead this team through the making of this magical experience,” Norman said.  “I am so grateful to have a team of people who… have helped me stay in line with our mission to awaken the beautifully brilliant light that is alive here in our community of Stillwater, Oklahoma.”

Every Brilliant Thing” will star Stillwater local Christopher Sneed.  Sneed, originally from Texas, has been seen on stage in Corsicana, TX and at Gaslight Theatre in Enid. He made his Town & Gown debut last season in “Guys and Dolls” as Nathan Detroit.  “Every Brilliant Thing,” Sneed said, “has been one of the most difficult things I've worked on, just internally. But I also realize how important its message is. That's the main reason I stuck with it.”

Every Brilliant Thing” will run Thursday, March 2 – Saturday, March 4, with performances at 7:30 p.m. each night.  Tickets will go on sale February 27.  For ticket information, visit www.townandgown.org or call (405) 372-9122.
