STILLWATER, Okla.- In a matchup of top-20 teams, Oklahoma State's 12th-ranked women's tennis team prevailed over 20th-ranked UCLA, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon during the second round of NCAA action at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

With the win, OSU moved to 20-5 on the season and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the fifth time in seven seasons.

The Cowgirls got off to a solid start in doubles action, winning the crucial point to take a 1-0 lead. OSU's 12th-ranked tandem of Lisa Marie Rioux and Ayumi Miyamoto, dominated UCLA's No. 29 Elise Wagle and Elysia Bolton, 6-1.

Oona Orpana and Dariya Detkovskaya clinched the doubles point after an impressive show of resilience. Facing a three-game deficit, Orpana and Detkovskaya won three-straight games to tie the match at three apiece. The tandem battled point for point to win the tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-2), over Sasha Vagramov and Kimmi Hance, giving the Cowgirls the early advantage.

OSU's Martina Zerulo and Mhai Sawangkaew fell to Ava Catanzarite and Abbey Forbes, 6-3.

UCLA got on the board first in singles action, knotting the match when Kimmi Hance defeated Sofia Rojas on court four, 6-3, 6-2.

OSU retook the lead with an impressive performance from freshman and 31st-ranked Mhai Sawangkaew. She extended her record to 19-2 on the year in singles action with a straight-set rout of No. 58 Elysia Bolton, 6-3, 6-1.

UCLA answered the back-to-back Cowgirl points when Vanessa Ong defeated Alana Wolfberg in a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 battle on court six.

OSU looked to clinch with courts one and five still live. Each match respectively split sets. In the third set, Ayumi Miyamoto turned on the jets, taking four games in a row en route to a 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 victory over Bruin Elise Wagle, to earn the match-clinching point for the Cowgirls.
