STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s Amber Hochstatter, Ayumi Miyamoto, Raquel Gonzalez, Kristina Novak, Alana Wolfberg and Sofia Rojas all opened play at the ITA Central Regional Championships in impressive fashion Thursday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.   

 

The day started with qualifying singles play where Hochstatter beat Elizabeth Barlow of St. Louis, 6-4, 7-6 (3), and then defeated Nicole Ross of Central Arkansas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.  

 

Hochstatter will return in the main draw of singles play tomorrow afternoon against Wichita State’s 10th-ranked Harriet Hamilton.  

 

In doubles action, No. 3 Gonzalez and Wolfberg teamed up to dominate Mariia Pukhina and Alex Hildreth of Bradley University, 8-2.   

 

Miyamoto played with Novak to rout Bradley University’s Maria Bezmenova and Anna Belogliadova, 8-1.   

 

Rojas and Hochstatter capped off the Cowgirl’s perfect 5-0 day as they defeated No. 14 Lily Hutchings and Ana Paula Naranjo Martinez Kobash of Tulsa, 8-7. All three doubles pairings advanced to the round of 32 tomorrow morning.
