STILLWATER – The No. 3 Oklahoma State softball team notched a pair of wins against South Dakota State and Tarleton State – 4-0 and 11-2, respectively – on Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.

With Saturday’s results, the Cowgirls improved to 17-1 and extended their current win streak to 15 games, with nine run-rule victories on the season.

Against South Dakota State, Oklahoma State freshman Kyra Aycock improved to 4-0 as she pitched 7.0 scoreless innings and struck out eight batters.

After a scoreless first inning, the Cowgirls struck first in the second. Back-to-back walks opened the inning, then Alabama transfer Megan Bloodworth cleared the bases with a double to left field, scoring two runs. A base hit from Rachel Becker moved Bloodworth to third, who scored on the next play with an RBI groundout from Tallen Edwards.

OSU added another run in the fourth inning, the final run of the game. Catcher Taylor Tuck tabbed a base hit then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Tuck later scored on an RBI single from Edward.

Today’s shutout victory marked the eighth shutout of the season for the Cowgirls.

In game two against Tarleton State, Oklahoma State’s bats came alive as they plated five runs in the first inning to immediately set the tone.

Opening the game with a leadoff triple, Becker extended her hitting streak to 17-straight games, which is tied for second in program history for the most consecutive games with a hit. A sacrifice fly from Edwards brought Becker home. Katie Lott’s RBI double brought home Kiley Naomi, who scored in the next at-bat off a 2-RBI triple from Chyenne Factor. Another sacrifice fly scored Factor, bringing the OSU tally up to five after the first inning.

Ivy Rosenberry got the nod in the circle, going 5.0 innings with two strikeouts. After a clean first inning, Tarleton State posted a two-spot in the second, cutting the OSU lead to 5-2.

OSU responded with a run of its own as Micaela Wark’s RBI single scored shortstop Naomi, following her two-out double.

The Cowgirls brought the game into run-rule territory with a five-run fourth inning. Following a base on balls from Becker and a single from Edwards, Naomi brought them home with a double to center. OSU’s first home run of the weekend was two-run blast from Wark, which scored Naomi. Rounding out the scoring, pinch-hitter Claire Timm tallied an RBI of her own with a single that scored Lott.

With Tarleton State runners on the corners, the Cowgirls’ defense slammed the door shut with a 5-4-3 double play in the top of the fifth to end the game, 11-2. The victory over the Texans marks the Cowgirls ninth run-rule victory of the season.

The Pokes close out the OSU/Tulsa Invitational at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow against South Dakota State at Cowgirl Stadium. The game can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
