STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team climbed one spot to No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, while holding steady at No. 9 in the Associated Press Top 25, which were released Sunday.
After beginning the season 3-0 for the sixth consecutive season, the Cowboys had their bye week before they open conference play on Saturday.
Oklahoma State the highest of three Big 12 teams ranked in both of the polls. Baylor, OSU’s next opponent, sits at No. 16 in the AP poll and No. 14 in the coaches poll, while Oklahoma dropped to No. 18/16, following its first loss of the season to Kansas State. The Wildcats entered the AP Top 25 for the first time this season at No. 25 and are receiving votes in the coaches poll. Kansas, Texas Tech and TCU are each receiving votes in both polls, while Texas and Iowa State received votes in the coaches poll.
The Cowboys will head to Waco for their first conference game of the season in a rematch of the 2021 Big 12 Championship game. Oklahoma State and Baylor are set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on FOX.
