STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State football team earned the No. 14 spot in this year’s first set of College Football Playoff rankings, which were released by the College Football Playoff committee on Tuesday.

The selection marks the Cowboys’ first appearance in the College Football Playoff rankings, which replaced the BCS rankings in 2014. Oklahoma State held a national ranking for a five-week stretch in 2014, but was not selected for the College Football Playoff poll, which runs from week nine to the conclusion of the season.

Earlier this week, OSU was slotted at No. 10 in the USA Today Coaches poll and No. 12 in the Associated Press rankings. Oklahoma State is also the 11th-ranked squad in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll.

The College Football Playoff committee selected three other Big 12 teams in Tuesday’s rankings, including Baylor (No. 6), TCU (No. 8) and Oklahoma (No. 15)

Oklahoma State and TCU will square off on Saturday, Nov. 7, with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. at Boone Pickens Stadium.
