(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / March 22, 2019) – Get your skateboards and helmets ready for the grand opening of Stillwater’srenovated Strickland Park Skate Park Saturday, March 30.
Remarks from representatives from the City of Stillwater and a ribbon cutting will begin at 1 p.m. The skateboarding community and the public are encouraged to attend and help us celebrate the improved skate park.

Stillwater City Council selected the project to renovate and expand Strickland Park Skate Park as the recipient of the 2017 Community Development Block Grant at its regular meeting May 1, 2017.
The new skate park features three quarter-pipes, two hubba ledges, two bank ramps, two bump-to-rails, a pump track, and more. Concrete benches and bleachers, a water fountain and landscaping were also added to the area. The City of Stillwater contracted with skate park design and construction firm Spohn Ranch of Industry, California, to build the skate park.
City councilors and city staff will also be available through 2:30 p.m. for a Pop Up City Hall at the skate park. Pop Up City Halls give you the opportunity to talk with city officials about topics you are interested in—at an event you were already planning to attend.
The skate park is a part of the Strickland Park & Sports Complex. The park’s entry is near the intersection of Main Street and Hall of Fame Avenue. Parking is available in complex’s parking lot.
This Community Development Block Grant project was financed in part by funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as administered by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
The projected cost of the project is $242,254. The Community Development Block Grant allocation is for $121,127.
