(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / June 18, 2019) – Make plans to celebrate Independence Day this year at Chickasaw Boomer Blast Fourth of July Fireworks Show presented by the City of Stillwater.
The annual show, which is free and open to the public, is held in Boomer Lake Park at the corner of Washington Street and Lakeview Road. The 20-minute fireworks show begins at 9:35 p.m.
“We look forward to presenting one of the best-attended firework shows in the region,” Special Events Coordinator Stephanie Kinder said. “Anyone is welcome to come enjoy Stillwater’s favorite food trucks and celebrate the holiday.”
This year local food trucks will setup on Lakeview bridge from 7 to 10 p.m., and guests are welcome to watch the show from Stillwater High School Pioneer Stadium, which opens at 8 p.m.
Boomer Lake Park will be open to pedestrians on Thursday, July 4; however, the park will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 5 p.m. July 4.
Kinder said, "Guests may still enjoy the park. They can bring lawn chairs, play at the splash pad and watch the fireworks from inside the park."
Parking is available at Pioneer Stadium, Cimarron Plaza and along public streets. Event goers are encouraged to use the Kameoka Trail and walk to Boomer Lake or view the event from the stadium.
Also, a shuttle service to the park will be provided. Shuttle service will be available to and from the Pioneer Stadium and Cimarron Plaza to Boomer Lake's south entrance on Lakeview. Shuttle rides will run from 7 to 10:45 p.m.
Shuttles are wheelchair accessible. Pioneer Stadium is also open for wheelchair access and there is additional handicap parking on the west side of the stadium.
The Stillwater Bicycle Pedestrian Ad-Hoc Committee will also offer free, secure bike parking at the corner of Lakeview and Washington near the multi-use trail.
In the event of cancellation, Chickasaw Boomer Blast will take place on Friday, July 5. The City of Stillwater follows a contingency plan in the event of rain or other weather situations to determine whether to cancel and reschedule the event.
Stillwater Radio will air the show live to music on KSPI Hot 93.7 FM.
