Stillwater, OK) – Book lovers in Stillwater and beyond have something to look forward to this spring! The Friends of the Stillwater Public Library will hold its spring used book sale Thursday, April 16, through Sunday, April 19, offering thousands of gently loved titles for .25-$1. From timeless classics to hidden gems, there is sure to be something for every reader.

“This will be one of the friends’ biggest sales in several years,” said Stacy DeLano, library director. “It’s the perfect time to stock up for yourself, friends and family members.”

The library’s meeting room building will be packed with used hardbacks, paperbacks, children’s books, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs and sometimes vinyl records. Cash and checks are accepted, and no sales tax will be charged.

“You never know what you’re going to find,” DeLano said. “There can be beautiful art books, stylized vintage titles, out-of-print editions and local ephemera. Part of the fun is searching for something special.”

The sale kicks off with the “Preview Night” on Thursday, April 16, from 5-8 p.m. Entry costs $10 at the door, unless attendees have already purchased a lifetime Stillwater Friends of the Library membership. Buyers at the preview sale are limited to purchasing 100 items, including 50 children’s books.

The sale continues into the weekend when it opens to the general public on Friday, April 17, from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then on Sunday, April 19, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., all items that fit into a bag provided by the Friends of the Library will cost just $1. There is no limit to the number of bags that can be purchased.

The Friends will also be selling reusable tote bags in assorted colors with new, fun designs for $5 each.

DeLano hopes that book sale shoppers will also consider attending the Stillwater Arts Festival, taking place April 17-18 at Prairie Arts Center.

“There’s so much culture to take in during the book sale weekend,” DeLano said. “We encourage the community to shop at the sale and head over to the Arts Festival next door.”

All proceeds from the book sales support library services, materials and programs, including the children’s and teen summer reading program.

Book donations for the Friends sale are accepted year-round and are greatly appreciated. Carts are available for unloading, and staff are available to assist as needed. Donation receipts for tax purposes are available on request.

The Friends would not be able to undertake the biannual sales without support. To volunteer at the book sale, sign up at stillwaterok.gov/LibraryBookSales
