STILLWATER – Oklahoma State distance runner Alex Stitt was named Men’s Big 12 Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

In his first career cross country race for OSU, Stitt earned the victory at the Cowboy Preview in the men’s 5K with a time of 14:54.9. The Cowboys picked up the meet win over an impressive field, including No. 6 Tulsa, No. 12 Arkansas and Texas A&M.

In his career, Stitt has two Big 12 Indoor Championships to his name with back-to-back titles in the Distance Medley Relay in 2021 and 2022.

His award is the first weekly award won by a Cowboy since Ryan Smeeton was named Big 12 Athlete of the Week during the week of April 6 last season. Isai Rodriguez also won Big 12 Runner of the Week twice during last year’s cross country season.
