The Basics 

The Oklahoma State Equestrian team will face Auburn for its second meet of the season at the Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center Friday at 1 p.m. The Cowgirls defeated No. 8 Baylor, 10-9, in their season opener last week. The No. 4 Cowgirls and the No. 1 Tigers are both 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. 

 

About the Cowgirls                                                                                                                  

The Cowgirls (1-0) are led by 23rd-year head coach Larry Sanchez, third-year assistants Laura Brainard and Olivia Dorey, and graduate assistant Kaylyn Cole.  

  

An Oklahoma State Win Would...                                                                                       

- Give the Cowgirls their first 2-0 start since 2015. 

- Improve its overall record to 5-14 against Auburn. 

- End a six-meet losing skid against the Tigers. 

 

Who to Watch                                                                                                               

“We are very excited to host Auburn here in Stillwater this Friday,” head coach Larry Sanchez said. “Our team is riding with a lot of confidence right now and looking forward to riding in front of our home crowd.” 

 

Molly Mitchell: The returning junior was 5-3-1 last season in Reining. In the season opening meet against Baylor, Mitchell won 70.5-0 in Reining. 

 

Last season, team captain Abigail Brayman was 5-4 in Fences 6-3 in Equation on the Flat. She opened the season with a loss in Fences but won 87-69 in Flat in the Baylor meet. 

 

Sydnie Ziegler returns for her final year after going 6-3 in Fences last season. She began her senior campaign by going 1-1 last week, with an 86-78 victory in Fences and a loss in Flat. 

 

Jojo Roberson went 6-2-1 last year in Horsemanship and 1-3 in Reining. Roberson won her ride at Baylor in Horsemanship, 76.5-73.5, to earn MOP honors 

 

All-American Emma Pacyna entered her junior season following a 4-3 record in 2020-21. She was the MOP in Fences against Baylor when she bested her opponent 88-82. 

 

Team captain Katie Pelzel looks to have another solid season after going 6-3 last year in Flat. To begin the season, Pelzel is 1-0 in Flat after an 81-74 win at Baylor.
