Washington School of 1956 Basketball Championship Banquet

Overview

This will be an exciting evening of events!  Stillwater's Washington Bears won the states first desegregated Oklahoma Class C High School Basketball Championship in 1956.  Stillwater Washington was the only African-American school to participate in the tournament and they took home the title!

The banquet and Heritage project fundraiser will give the community an opportunity to learn about the Washington School heritage as well as hear surviving players and others share stories. The fundraiser will focus on stabilizing the building and making it weather-tight while preparing for the larger task of historic preservation.  Get ready for some "must have" items up for grabs at the auction such as, signed basketballs, signed team photographs and possibly some home cooked meals!

Ticket includes dinner & program, there will be a cash bar available as well.  Register online at www.sccfoundation.org/washington-school.
