Overview

Themes on Being explores the last three decades of prints, paintings, and drawings from Mark Sisson’s career. To describe his work as narrative would be an oversimplification. Each work captures a whole constructed world with complex characters drawn from pop culture, role-played by real people from his own world. The core of each one holds a critique of a dark corner of life or captures raw human experience from sweatshop labor to racial violence, and unions to losses, weaving together reverie and reality. Though the theme of each story is different, together they illustrate what it means to be a human being.
