Each week participants will explore a different artist in depth, creating works inspired by their medium, subject matter, philosophy, and life. Each 4 day camp will include a combination of two dimensional and three dimensional projects, and will be divided into a 6-10 year old age group and an 11-14 year old group. As always, kids will learn a lot, play, explore, and expand their understanding of art and the world around us! All supplies included. Students will need to bring a sack lunch, as well as a light snack for morning break. Students need to wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get messy. Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle with the student’s name on it. 

Join Prairie Arts this week as they turn the spotlight on mixed media artist and educator, Howardena Pindell. Pindell is well known for her elaborate stages of making. She paints on a canvas, rips it into pieces, and sews it back together. She makes drawings on top of paintings and then punches small dots out of those works to build up the surface of a new work. This week, kids will will work and play like Pindell, steeped in process, building layer upon layer for stunning, complex final works!
