Overview
The Boone Pickens School of Geology at Oklahoma State University is offering the Geoscience Research Experience (GEO-REx), a residential summer camp for high school students interested in geoscience and hands-on research. Campers will work closely with OSU faculty on real research projects ranging from wet-lab geochemistry to near-surface geophysics, culminating in a final presentation to family and guests. Activities will cover topics in geology, geophysics, and environmental geoscience, while also building teamwork and research skills.
Open to students entering grades 9–12 (ages 14–18), the camp includes housing in OSU dorms, meals, and transportation for local field trips. All trips will take place within one hour of Stillwater and be supervised by GEO-REx staff trained in First Aid and certified in driver safety. Space is limited to 25 campers.
The cost to attend is a $50 registration deposit, which will be refunded once the camp begins. This fee can be waived by request. The registration deadline is July 1, and cancellations must be received by 11:59 p.m. on June 20 for a full refund. Emergency exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
