Overview
The Geoscience Research Experience (GEO-REx), hosted by the Boone Pickens School of Geology, will take place July 7–10 on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. This residential camp is designed for high school students ages 14–18 (grades 9–12) who are interested in geoscience research and hands-on learning in both laboratory and field settings.
Participants will work closely with faculty on real research projects ranging from wet-lab geochemistry to near-surface geophysics, with opportunities to present their findings on the final day to an audience that includes family. Camp activities will also include field trips to geoscience sites within two hours of Stillwater, overseen by trained GEO-REx staff, along with experiences in geology, geophysics, environmental geoscience, teamwork, and research skill development.
Housing, meals, and transportation for field trips are included, with campers staying in OSU residence halls and working in Noble Research Center and faculty labs. A $50 registration deposit is required (refundable upon completion of the camp and may be waived upon request). Space is limited to 25 campers, and registration closes July 1.
