Overview

READY. SET. READ! Their first book: the dot by Peter H. Reynolds

The storybook walk starts at BancFirst at the corner of 8th and Main St. in Downtown Stillwater. Follow the map to each stop and you will read the book The Dot while doing fun and silly activities on your journey Downtown. You will walk almost 3/4 of a mile when you finish! Don't forget to stop at StillyArts to do a free art activity. Click here to view the map.

Parents, all posters are viewable without going inside businesses. However, if you want to fit in some shopping, we won't stop you.

For your safety please walk on the sidewalks and cross at designated crosswalks.

The Downtown Stillwater Association is partnering with Mya's Promise to bring a fun, safe, and inclusive attraction to our historic downtown. Storybook walks help our kids build their reading skills and promote physical activity.

Mya’s Promise strives to help children with special needs shine. The Dot expresses this sentiment by finding the artist in every child. When the main character doesn’t believe she is capable of drawing, a teacher is able to help her “make a mark” and shine. Sometimes our children struggle to make THEIR mark. This Storybook Walk shows how anyone, regardless of challenges (and with a little encouragement) can create.
