Overview

This week Prairie Arts Center will be exploring the artists and rich artistic traditions of the nations of the Andean Region including Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Children will meet Pachamama and Pachapapa, learn the meaning of  ayni, a living Andean philosophy of reciprocity, and be inspired by the bright colors of the textile arts that adorn the people and animals of the mountains. Each week students will create works inspired by the history, geography, culture, and art of a different country or region below the equator. Each 4 day camp will include a combination of two dimensional and three dimensional projects, and will be divided into a 6-10 year old age group and an 11-14 year old group. All art camps will run Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Students will need to bring a sack lunch, as well as a light snack for morning break.
