(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / September 6, 2018) – Oklahoma State’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge hoops matchup against South Carolina will tipoff at 1 p.m. on Jan. 26 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The showdown with the Gamecocks will air on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

This will be the third Challenge matchup between OSU and South Carolina after the two programs split a pair of games in 2013-14 (won 79-52 in Stillwater) and 2014-15 (lost 74-49 in Columbia, South Carolina). Overall, the Gamecock lead the all-time series, 2-1.

Mike Boynton coached the Cowboys to six wins over ranked opponents last season, but as a player he was a four-year letterwinner for South Carolina from 2001-04. He played in 125 career games, which still ranks seventh in that program's history, and he finished his career in the top ten in three pointers made (129) and three pointers attempted (364).

Including last year's narrow 66-65 loss at Arkansas, OSU is 3-2 in SEC/Big 12 Challenge games, but is a perfect 2-0 in Challenge games in Stillwater with wins over South Carolina and Arkansas.

The sixth annual Challenge will consist of 10 games played on Saturday, January 26, as every Big 12 member faces 10 squads from the Southeastern Conference. This will mark the fourth consecutive year for all matchups to be played in one day. ESPN, EPSN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise the contests with ESPN's College GameDay originating from one of the sites.

Big 12 teams are 29-21 (.580) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. In the first four years of the event, the Challenge trophy remained in the Big 12 office. The Big 12 won it the first three seasons and the leagues split the 10 games in 2017. The SEC won the Challenge for the first time in 2018.
