STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week Monday for his performance in OSU’s 58-44 win over Central Michigan.

It marks his third career Big 12 weekly honor, as he was also recognized twice as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week in the 2019 season.

Sanders finished the game against the Chippewas with 463 yards of total offense, which is the most for any player in a single game in the FBS so far in 2022. Those numbers included career-bests with 406 passing yards, six total touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. His four passing touchdowns also tied a career high.

In an incredible first half, he became the second player in Big 12 history with 300 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in a half. He joined Patrick Mahomes, who accomplished the feat in 2016, as the only players to do so.

Sanders completed passes to 11 different players and threw touchdown passes to four different players. He also had four completions longer than 40 yards, which is the most in the FBS in 2022.

With 57 rushing yards against Central Michigan, Sanders also came closer to the quarterback career rushing record at OSU. His career total now stands at 1,622 yards and he needs just 249 yards to surpass Brent Blackman's total of 1,870.

Sanders and the Cowboys return to action Saturday night, hosting Arizona State at 6:30 p.m. CT in Boone Pickens Stadium.
