(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Aug. 31, 2020) – Let's try this again: the City invites you to help keep Stillwater beautiful while earning community service hours by participating in this year’s Trash-Off event. The outdoor event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. It was originally scheduled for earlier this year but postponed due to COVID-19 concerns-- participants can expect a variety of precautions and safety procedures to be implemented this time around.
Volunteers will meet at the Couch Park Pavilion at 1270 E. Alcott Drive. Contact the Environmental Programs division at 405.533.8482 by Monday, Sept. 21 to RSVP the number of people in your group. Individuals are also welcome.
The City of Stillwater began coordinating the Annual Trash-Off event in 2006. These events continue to enable citizens to volunteer and clean up trash from areas all around town. During these events, citizens take to the streets and streams to show that “Litter is Not OK”. An award for the group that collects the most trash will be presented. This is an opportunity for individuals to receive verified community service hours. This is also an opportunity for groups to clean a Stillwater creek or stream, if desired.
The Environmental Programs division will also provide work gloves, safety vests and trash bags for participants. All CDC recommended guidelines for social distancing, disinfecting and more will be followed at this event. Face coverings will be required.
For additional information on the event, contact the Environmental Programs division at 405.533.8482 or visit stillwater.org.
