STILLWATER, Okla. – Dancing Turtle Interactive Celebration of the Arts is proud to announce it will host a “Rock Academy” on June 16-17 as part of the two-day arts event.
Stillwater native Jesse Tabish, front man of acclaimed alternative rock band Other Lives is going to mentor the next generation of musicians at Dancing Turtle’s “Rock Academy” on June 16-17, 2023 at the Stillwater Community Center.
Young rockers, who must be between the ages of 11 and 15, will receive seven hours of coaching which will include group and individual instruction and practice. Most importantly, Tabish and his fellow instructors will focus on teaching young musicians how to play as a band. To culminate the academy, participants will play a rock show on a full-sized stage in front of a live audience.
Some experience on guitar, bass, or drums is preferred. Some instruments and a drum set will be provided, but if participants have their own gear, they are encouraged to bring it along.
The class is limited to 16 participants to provide the best instruction possible. Participants must register online at https://www.sccfoundation.org/rock-academy by 12:30 p.m. on June 16. Attending parents must complete a volunteer waiver and are encouraged to assist with the delivery of the program.
The rock academy is one of many programs that comprise Dancing Turtle. The two-day event will also feature film, live music, dance performances, music and dance workshops, theater competitions, industrial arts workshops and contests, and more.
