• The Basics
Oklahoma State will Remember The Ten while welcoming a rival into town for the annual Big 12/SEC Challenge on Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. On top of the game, OSU and Arkansas will join forces to honor the late Eddie Sutton, who famously took both programs to the Final Four and is a part of the 2021 Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame class. Saturday's game can be seen on ESPN2 with Rich Hollenberg and Chris Spatola on the call, and fans can listen to the game with Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb on the Cowboy Radio Network.
• We Will Always Remember The Ten
Wednesday marked the 20th anniversary of the tragic plane crash that killed 10 members of the Oklahoma State family following a road game at Colorado on Jan. 27, 2001. After the tragedy, OSU vowed to always "Remember The Ten". A memorial was erected in Gallagher-Iba Arena, scholarships are awarded in memory of those lost and OSU chooses a game each year to come together as a family. • Challenge Accepted
With a 4-1-2 record and a 40-30 (.571) overall mark, the Big 12 has dominated the eighth-annual Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Big 12 retained the trophy in 2020 after a 5-5 tie with the SEC, but won the Challenge outright in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. The SEC's only victory came in 2018, 6-4. Oklahoma State is 5-2 overall in the Challenge, including last year's 73-62 win at Texas A&M in College Station.
• The Series With The Razorbacks
This will be the 52nd meeting between these two programs, which are separated by only 180 miles. Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Arkansas, 36-15. While the Razorbacks took the last meeting in 2018, OSU has won 10 of the last 12 dating back to 1966. In Stillwater, OSU has a four-game win streak and leads the series 13-4. The last Arkansas win in GIA came in 1966.
• Honoring Eddie
On Saturday, Cowboys and Razorbacks will join together to honor Eddie Sutton with special shooting shirts and tributes throughout the game. Sutton spent 11 seasons in Fayetteville (1975-85), and piled up a 260-75 record that included five Southwest Conference titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the Final Four in 1978. After four seasons at Kentucky, Sutton returned to Oklahoma State and spent the next 16 seasons (1991-06) racking up a 368-151 record, 13 NCAA Tournament appearances and trips to the Final Four in 1995 and 2004. Sutton was named to the 2021 class of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.
