(NEW ORLEANS, LA / Feb. 9, 2018) — Four Cowboys and Two Cowgirls have been named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s 2017 Academic All-America cross country team, the organization announced Friday.

The Cowboys are highlighted by senior Noah Gade, who is the recipient of the men’s NCAA Elite 90 Award. Gade is joined by Christian Liddell, who won the same award a season ago, senior Luis Martinez and freshman Ryan Smeeton.

They helped the Cowboys as a whole post a 3.24 GPA, which has risen from last year’s 3.17 and is the fourth-highest cumulative GPA in the Big 12.

Standouts Kaylee Dodd and Molly Sughroue also enjoyed a successful season in competition and in the classroom, making the women’s individual list. The Cowgirls are tied for the second-most women on the individual list in the conference, behind three from Iowa State.

As a whole, the women posted a 3.49 GPA, also up from last year’s 3.41.

The full list of student-athletes and teams that made the list can be seen at USTFCCCA.org.
