Oklahoma State Cross Country Set to Host Cowboy Preview

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men’s and women’s cross country will each open their seasons in Stillwater at the Cowboy Preview on Friday at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course, with Arkansas (M), Oklahoma (M&W), Tulsa (M&W) and Texas A&M (M&W) each competing in the exhibition.

The Cowboys enter the 2024 season ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Preseason National Coaches Poll for the third time in program history. They finished the 2023 season undefeated in official competition, winning the program’s fifth NCAA title and fourth under Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Smith. However, the four returning All-Americans from the ’23 team (Denis Kipngetich, Brian Musau, Fouad Messaoudi and Victor Shitsama) are unlikely to compete until later in the season.

Meanwhile, the Cowgirls kick off their season as the 15th-ranked team in the land, their fifth-highest preseason ranking in team history. Last season, the OSU women collected the program’s second straight trophy at the national championships with their third-place finish overall. They also dominated the NCAA Midwest Regional meet at home, winning the region for the second straight season. As is the case for the men, the Cowgirls will likely be resting their projected top runner for later in the season.

The Cowboy Preview starts with the men’s 5K race at 8:15 a.m. CT, with the women’s 3K immediately following at 8:45 a.m. CT.
