(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / August 6, 2018) - The Oklahoma State cross country program released its schedule for the 2018 season, and it will run in three regular season meets before heading into the postseason, Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Dave Smith announced Monday.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will get a preview of this year’s championship course at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Sept. 28 in Madison, Wisconsin. The NCAA Championships will be held in the Badger State on Nov. 17.
The Cowboy Jamboree will not be held this year due to construction on the OSU Cross Country Course. The course is being upgraded before it hosts the 2019 Midwest Regional and the 2020 NCAA Championships.
OSU will open the season on Sept. 1 in Tulsa for the Tulsa Duels. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will round out the regular season on Oct. 13 for the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas.
OSU will head to Ames, Iowa, for the Big 12 Championships coming off a pair of top-3 finishes a year ago. The Cowboys took third last year, but have won nine of the last 10 Big 12 Cross Country titles. The women’s cross country team finished second and have been a top-three team since 2015, the same year it won its most recent Big 12 title.
The Midwest Regional will be held on Nov. 9 in Peoria, Illinois. A top-two finish at the regional round would qualify the teams for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 17. The men’s team has made the final round in all 12 years under the direction of Smith, and the Cowgirls have made it to the NCAA Championships the past three cross country seasons.
