STILLWATER – Oklahoma State announced its 2016 football schedule today, highlighted by seven home games at Boone Pickens Stadium and three first-time visitors to Stillwater.
The schedule includes four home contests versus Big 12 opponents, including Texas, Iowa State, West Virginia and Texas Tech, in addition to a marquee home game in a first-ever meeting with Pittsburgh. That game marks the first time OSU has hosted a current member of the ACC since the Cowboys defeated Louisville in 1981.
The season opens on Sept. 3 with the Cowboys facing Southeastern Louisiana for the first time, followed by consecutive home games with Central Michigan, also making their first trip to Stillwater, and Pittsburgh to close out the non-conference schedule.
OSU begins conference play the following week at Baylor before taking the first of two off weeks in the schedule. The Cowboys return to the field for back-to-back home games Oct. 1 and Oct. 8 as they face Texas and Iowa State, respectively.
In their second road game of the year, the Cowboys play on Oct. 22 in Lawrence, Kan., where they will try for their seventh-straight road win over the Jayhawks. OSU is back in Stillwater the following week for Homecoming versus West Virginia on Oct. 29.
Oklahoma State alternates home and road contests with West Virginia, Kansas State, Texas Tech and TCU before taking its second off week of the year on the week of Thanksgiving.
The Cowboys wrap up the regular season with a Bedlam finale in Norman, as the in-state rivalry returns to the final week of the regular season on Dec. 3.
