Martin is the fourth overall linebacker selected and the highest-drafted OSU linebacker since 1967.
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State linebacker Nick Martin was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 75th overall pick in the third round of NFL Draft Friday night.
With the selection, he is the second-highest drafted linebacker in OSU history and the highest since Leon Ward was chosen by the Baltimore Colts with the 71st overall pick in the 1967 NFL Draft.
He is also the fourth overall linebacker pick and the first player from any Oklahoma college chosen in this year’s draft, the ninth Cowboy to be selected by the 49ers in an NFL Draft and the first OSU player to be picked by the 49ers since running back Kendall Hunter was drafted in the fourth round in 2011.
Mike Gundy has now coached 39 NFL Draft picks during his head coaching tenure at Oklahoma State, including 12 in the past five years.
Although Martin played in just five games last season before suffering an injury, he ranked among the FBS top 10 in solo stops, tackles for loss and total tackles before missing the rest of the year.
As a sophomore in 2024, he jumped onto the national scene in his first year as a starter and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors and fourth team All-America honors from Phil Steele. He finished that season with the Big 12 lead in tackles, solo tackles and tackles per game and his 140 total tackles and 83 solo tackles were both the most by any Big 12 player since 2018. His tackle total was also the most for any Cowboy since 1984 and the second-most of any Power Conference player for the season.
The 2025 NFL Draft continues Friday night and wraps up Saturday with rounds four through seven.
