(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / July 27, 2017) — The City of Stillwater Community Center will host another Missoula Children’s Theatre production starring 50-60 local students in a full-scale musical.
Children entering first through 12th grade are invited to audition for the original Missoula Children’s Theatre rendition of "Treasure Island." Auditions are Monday, August 7 beginning at 10 a.m. in the Community Center at 315 E. 8th Ave. There is no charge to students to participate in this activity.
Two performances will be held Saturday, August 12 at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the Community Center’s Winfrey Houston Theater. Cast members will be called for dress rehearsal before the performance that day.
Cast members must be available for all scheduled performances. Tickets are $7 each and will be available at the door as long as they last.
Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled start time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins about 15-30 minutes after the audition. This is a group audition, so no advance preparation is necessary.
Only students who can participate every day beginning Monday, Aug. 7 through the following Saturday should audition. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play.
Rehearsals are every day from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and, if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role.
A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4.5 hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a sack lunch.
Missoula Children’s Theatre will also host three free workshops on Tuesday, August 8, Wednesday, August 9 and Thursday, August 10. Those who are not cast in the show will be given priority. Workshops are open to the general public.
