STILLWATER – ABC/ESPN announced today that kickoff time for the 2014 AdvoCare Cowboys Classic between Oklahoma State and Florida State is set for 7 p.m. CT on Aug. 30 in Arlington’s AT&T Stadium. Fans can purchase tickets either online at www.okstate.com/tickets or toll free at 877-255-4678. The deadline is May 1.
Now is the time to act to get good seats, as OSU’s ticket allotment for the game include seats available between the 20 yard lines on the club levels and even better locations in the 400 level.
When the Cowboys take on the Seminoles, it will mark the third time that OSU has opened a season by facing the reigning national champion. The Pokes started 1965 by taking on 1964 champ Arkansas and started 1995 by battling 1994 champ Nebraska.
The Cowboys have opened 10 seasons with teams ranked in the top 25, five seasons with teams ranked in the top 10 and three seasons with teams ranked in the top five of the Associated Press poll. Florida State is a strong candidate to be ranked No. 1 in the preseason AP poll, which would make the Seminoles the first AP No. 1 team that OSU has ever played in a season opener.
OSU and Florida State have met four times, with the Seminoles holding a 3-1 series advantage. The most recent meeting between the two squads came in the 1985 Gator Bowl, with FSU emerging with a 34-23 win. The only other neutral site meeting between the two squads came in the 1958 Bluegrass Bowl, where OSU was a 15-6 winner in Louisville, Ky.
The Cowboys are no strangers to nationally-televised neutral-site season openers, as OSU claimed a 21-3 win over Mississippi State in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff in Houston to start 2013’s 10-win campaign.
The 2014 AdvoCare Cowboys Classic marks Oklahoma State’s third appearance in AT&T Stadium, as the Pokes concluded the 2009 and 2013 seasons by playing in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic both years.
The game will be televised nationally by ABC.
