(October 2021)

It’s about to look a lot like Christmas around America’s Friendliest College Town!

Plans have been coming together since July for the Holidays 2021 signature event, Merry Main Street. This year, the high-tech light display spanning Main Street from 4th beyond the roundabout to 14th Street from last year will combine with the geodesic domes located on Block 34 from 2019, to create an expansive downtown attraction over the holidays.

Beginning Sunday, December 21, Chris Salmon Plaza and ProValue.net will be the hub for a forty-minute display of over 150,000 lights set to music. The City of Stillwater and ProValue.net have partnered again to coordinate lights and decorations that will brighten the downtown area and extend to other parts of the community, including Campus Corner.

Thursday, November 26 through the weekend, and each Thursday-Sunday through December 19, residents and visitors will enjoy Merry Main Street shopping with twenty retailers taking turns showcasing their items in the geodesic domes, Christmas trees and wreaths from the Diesel Family Farm, carriage rides, entertainment, goodies and more.

The Christmas Parade of Lights is back on the first Thursday in December. “Winter Wonderland” is the theme this year for the organizations and businesses who want to plan in advance to design their award-winning float.

Saturday, December 4, the City of Stillwater is hosting Breakfast with Santa at the Stillwater Community Center. Pictures taken while children are pleading their case with Santa to ensure they are included on the “nice” list will make great gifts for the holidays.

Town and Gown Theatre will present, “Elf the Musical”, Wednesday-Sunday, December 1-5 and 8-12. Elf is a modern-day holiday classic that will be a unique experience when performed in the round and appeal to the whole family.

The McKnight Center is hosting, “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas”, and “Meet me in St. Louis” will be the featured film for the Classic Cinema at the Stillwater Community Center.

The Visit Stillwater team has developed a website at VisitStillwater.org/Stillwater-Holidays to outline all of the events and activities taking place over the holidays throughout the community. The information spotlighted will include retail specials, product demonstrations, fashion shows, promotions, free goodies, and other activities that will appeal to families and shoppers of all ages who are out for some fun while preparing for the holidays.

To include information about commercial districts and residential areas that will be decorated for the holidays, and events or activities that will take place in your retail district, boutique, or restaurant, please provide details to the Visit Stillwater team.
