(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / June 25, 2021) – The Stillwater Public Library’s virtual summer reading program is more than halfway over, but there is still a ton of fun left to have! Two-time Grammy nominee Morgan Taylor will present the “Gustafer Yellowgold’s Show” via Facebook Live on Tuesday, June 29, at 2 p.m. The concert will also be recorded and posted on the Library’s YouTube channel and can be viewed for one week following the program.
“Gustafer Yellowgold’s Show” is a funny and touching multimedia performance of live music, colored-pencil animations and storytelling. The virtual concert will take viewers to a fun fantasy land that contains messages of empathy and friendship.
Since its creation in 2005, the show has become an international phenomenon.
It was acclaimed by The New York Times as “A cross between ‘Yellow Submarine’ and Dr. Seuss.” Entertainment Weekly praised “…The most infectious original songs. It’s like tapping into some pleasure center in the brain – both adult and kid…absurdly appealing.”
Morgan Taylor has always loved performing music and drawing cartoons, but the magic happened when he brought the two art forms together.
“Not only was combining my art passions fulfilling on a personal level, I soon realized there was something about it that struck a certain chord with audiences,” Taylor said. “There is a retro, nostalgic feeling in the music that the parents get, and an engaging, silly, fictional world in which both children and adults become immersed.”
Children’s Librarian Elizabeth Murray thinks the concert is going to be a blast.
“The fusion of music and art sounds like a perfect pairing for our virtual summer art-based series,” Murray said. “Families with kids of all ages should enjoy this show.”
