(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / September 2, 2022) – Community members who need help creating an effective resume and searching for jobs online can attend free classes on Sept. 20 and 22 at 6 p.m. Both classes will be led by instructors from Meridian Technology Center (MTC) and take place at the Stillwater Public Library (SPL). Space is limited, and registration is required.

The first class, "Resume Writing," is on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and will cover how to write a professional resume.

Justin Smola, project manager for Workforce and Development at MTC, believes that an outstanding resume consolidates all the information a potential employer needs to evaluate a candidate for a job.

"Making a good impression is a big part of being selected for a job position," Smola said. "The way a potential employee presents themselves in a resume or job application impacts the outcome of the application process."

The second class, "Searching and Applying for Jobs Online," takes place on Thursday, Sept. 22, and will give attendees tips for optimizing online job searches and completing online job applications.

Brenna Gilchrist, adult services librarian, thinks the classes will be useful to individuals who may find applying for jobs daunting.

"Job searching can be overwhelming," Gilchrist said. "Hopefully, these classes can alleviate some stress and help build confidence."
