(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / February 3, 2018) - The No. 3 Oklahoma State equestrian team took home three MOPs, but fell to No. 5 Auburn, 10-8, on Saturday at Totusek Arena. The Cowgirls’ late comeback attempts came up just short, for they battled back from being down six points late in the meet.

The Cowgirls were down, 9-4, heading into Reining, and the Cowgirls took the event, 4-1. Stephanie Helsen, Ebba Lange, Hannah Mitchell and Julia Purus earned points for the Cowgirls.

Purus brought home her third MOP of the season with her 68.5-67.5 win over Auburn’s Terri June Granger.

The Cowgirls tied with the Tigers, 2-2, in Equitation on the Flat. Carly Barrick and Abigail Brayman got two points for the Cowgirls with Barrick’s 84-point score and Brayman’s 85-point score.

Brayman continued her strong freshman season and received her third MOP honor with her 85-66 win against Auburn’s Becky Kozma.

The Cowgirls fell in Horsemanship, 3-1, with Harley Huff earning the only point for the Cowgirls. Huff received MOP honors when she beat Auburn’s Kara Kaufmann, 76-75. It was Huff’s team-leading fourth MOP of the season.

Equitation Over Fences went to the Tigers, who took the first event of the day, 4-1. Barrick got the only point for the Cowgirls in the event, and it kept her at a perfect 2-0 on the day.

“We had some very good rides today and we had some that we hopefully will learn from,” head coach Larry Sanchez said. “We’re going to continue to focus on the things that we have control over, and to continue to improve throughout the semester.”

The Cowgirls will resume action against Fresno State and SMU in two weeks when they travel to Fresno, California.
