STILLWATER, Okla.Oklahoma State's women's basketball team will return to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2021 with the announcement of the tournament field on Sunday evening.

With OSU’s selection, Jacie Hoyt becomes the first Cowgirl head coach to direct the program to the tournament in their first year.

After being picked to finish ninth in the Big 12’s preseason poll, the Cowgirls tallied a fourth-place finish after winning 10 games in the league and posting a 21-11 mark overall. OSU’s victory total also matches its most under a first-year head coach.

The Cowgirls enter play as the No. 8 seed in the Greenville 2 Region. OSU will face No. 9 Miami (Fla.), which sports a 19-12 record, on Saturday, March 18 in Bloomington, Ind. The winner will advance to take on the winner of top-seeded Indiana, who will face the winner of Tennessee Tech and Monmouth.

OSU’s first-ever NCAA contest came against Miami on March 15, 1989, a 93-69 win in Stillwater.

This year marks the third consecutive tournament appearance for OSU in which it has competed in the 8-9 matchup. The ninth-seeded Cowgirls knocked off Syracuse in the first round in 2018 before taking down Wake Forest in 2021 as the No. 8 seed in their most recent tournament appearance.

The Cowgirls are 12-16 all time in NCAA action, including three Sweet 16 appearances with the most recent coming in 2014.
