Cowgirls improve to fifth after round two of Carmel Cup
Pebble Beach, Calif. – Oklahoma State’s women’s golf team improved to fifth place on Saturday at Pebble Beach Golf Links with the help of two rounds of par or better from Grace Kilcrease and Ellie Bushnell.
The Pokes shot a total score of 371, a 10-stroke improvement from round one, easily the best improvement with the next best improvements, TCU and Texas Tech, improving by two strokes. The Cowgirls now place 20 strokes behind first place, Mississippi State.
Kilcrease carried her momentum from round one, firing another solid round, this time being a 72. She sits in solo second position at 3-under par, four strokes back of Mississippi State’s Julia Lopez Ramirez.
Bushnell shot a team-best 70. The round consisted of five birdies and a 35 on the back nine. She improved 21 positions on the leaderboard, the biggest jump by any golfer in round two, and now sits in a tie for 15th place.
Sophomore Sammie Miller shot an 81, but still settles in at 27th place heading into the final round. Freshmen Summer Lee and Lucy Darr improved on their first-round scores with rounds of 77 and 75, respectively, while junior Thitaporn Saithip finished the day with a 77, a two-stroke improvement over yesterday's performance.
Oklahoma State women’s golf will be back in action for round three tomorrow with the first tee time going off at 8:40 CT.
