The Basics 

Oklahoma State's women’s tennis team (11-4 overall; 4-0 Big 12) will continue conference play with a two-match homestand against No. 10 Iowa State (13-3 overall; 3-1 Big 12) and West Virginia (10-6 overall; 1-3 Big 12) this weekend. The Cowgirls and the Cyclones square off at 5 p.m. (CST) on Friday. On Sunday, the Cowgirls will host the Mountaineers at 1 p.m. (CST) in Stillwater.

In the Rankings  

Oklahoma State checked in at No. 17 in this week's 2022-23 ITA Tennis Division 1 national women's tennis rankings. The Cowgirls have three student-athletes ranked in the ITA rankings, with senior Alana Wolfberg landing at No. 111 in singles. The Cowgirl doubles duo of Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez checked in at No. 21.  

 

Series History  

Oklahoma State is undefeated against both Iowa State and West Virginia. Oklahoma State leads Iowa State 46-0 all-time with the last matchup coming in 2022 where the Cowgirls defeated the Cyclones, 4-3. Oklahoma State holds a 8-0 all-time record against West Virginia. The last matchup against the Mountaineers was in 2022 where the Cowgirls dominated and won, 7-0.  

 

Oklahoma State From a Distance  

The 17th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirl tennis team has completed an undefeated start to Big 12 play after two weekends. OSU now has won the doubles point in 11 out of 15 matches, led by the duo of Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez. Prior to this past weekend, the Cowgirls started off the spring dual season with a 6-1 victory over Tulsa. OSU then hosted the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Stillwater where the Cowgirls were able to show off their depth. OSU went 1-1, finishing the weekend with a 4-0 shutout against Oregon. OSU then dropped a hard-fought match against 16thranked Michigan, 2-4, in the championship round. Following the Kickoff Weekend, OSU lost a pair of matches on the road against No. 11 Ohio State and No. 12 Michigan before sweeping Louisiana Tech, Oral Roberts, Wichita State and No. 41 South Carolina, 4-0. The Cowgirls hit the road again and finished the weekend with a 5-2 victory over UC Santa Barbara and a loss to 9th-ranked Pepperdine. In its conference-opening road trip, the Cowgirls beat the No. 40 Baylor Bears, 4-3. OSU moved to 9-4 on the season and added a top-15 win to its resume, taking down the 12th-ranked Texas Longhorns, 4-3, to finish off the weekend. The Cowgirls then returned home and defeated No. 61 TCU and No. 33 Texas Tech.  

 

Streaks and Trends 

• OSU is 46-0 against Iowa State with the Cowgirls' last win coming in 2022. 

• OSU has won the last forty-six matchups against Iowa State.  

• The Cowgirls are 8-0 with West Virginia, with the last OSU win coming in 2022.  

• OSU has won the last eight matchups against West Virginia.  

• OSU has won the doubles point in eleven out of their first fifteen matches.  

• OSU is ranked in the top-25 for the third consecutive ITA poll.
