STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State’s women’s tennis team has finalized its schedule for the upcoming season it was announced today by head coach Chris Young.
"This is going to be an exciting season for Cowgirl tennis. We have a talented team returning and a challenging schedule, which will feature several quality home matches for our fans, including our first opportunity to host the Big 12 Championship here in Stillwater," Young said.
The Cowgirls, who are coming off a 23-6 campaign that resulted in a run to the NCAA Sweet 16, will get their fall slate underway on Sept. 18 when two-time All-American Viktoriya Lushkova competes in a field comprised of the top 16 returning players in the country at the Oracle Collegiate Challenge in Malibu, Calif. The remainder of the squad will open play the following week in Little Rock and Norman, Okla.
The fall portion of the schedule will be highlighted by the ITA Central Region Championship, which will take place Oct. 15-19 in Stillwater.
OSU’s spring schedule will get underway on Jan. 10 when the Cowgirls play host to Abilene Christian and Drake. The season-opening homestand will continue on Jan. 23 when OSU hosts Notre Dame as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The following day, the Cowgirls will close out the event against either Northwestern or Arizona State.
Young’s squad will host Wichita State on Jan. 30 before competing at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 5-8 in Madison, Wis.
After a road tilt at Arkansas on Feb. 12, OSU will host Washington on Feb. 20 before taking part in the Blue-Gray Invitational Feb. 26-27 in Montgomery, Ala.
The Cowgirls will host in-state rival Oklahoma on March 5 before traveling to Los Angeles to face Southern California on March 16. OSU will begin Big 12 play on March 19 when it hosts West Virginia before Iowa State comes calling the following day.
OSU will host Tulsa on March 29 before a return to league play with a road trip to Austin to face Texas on April 1. Two days later, the Cowgirls will face Baylor in Waco before wrapping up their road swing with the second installment of the Bedlam Series against OU on April 9 in Norman.
Home dates against Texas Tech and TCU on April 15 and 17, respectively, will precede OSU’s two-match road swing through Kansas to close the regular season. The Cowgirls will take on Kansas State on April 22 and Kansas April 24.
For the first time in school history, the Cowgirls will host the Big 12 Championship, which will take place April 28-May 1 at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
