Cowgirl Softball returns home for weekend series against Houston
The Basics
The No. 15/14 Oklahoma State softball team (16-6 overall, 1-2 Big 12) continues its 50th anniversary season with week two of Big 12 league play against Houston (16-7 overall, 2-1 Big 12) from March 14-16. Friday’s series opener is set for 6 p.m. CT, while Saturday is at 2 p.m. CT. The series finale on Sunday has a noon CT first pitch.

Oklahoma State is No. 15 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll and No. 14 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. Softball America has the Pokes at No. 14 and D1Softball has the Cowgirls at No. 10.
In the NCAA Ratings Percentage Index, which looks at wins and strength of schedule, Oklahoma State is No. 11. Houston is No. 31.
Oklahoma State from a Distance
After playing the toughest schedule in the nation through the first two weeks of competition, the Oklahoma State softball team stands at 16-6 and is 1-2 in Big 12 play, boasting wins over No. 9 Florida State, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 14 Alabama and No. 18 Nebraska. Six of the Cowgirls’ first nine games were played against ranked opponents, with four against top-10 opponents. The gauntlet continued into league play as the Pokes opened against two-time All-American NiJaree Canady and No. 16/15 Texas Tech, and dropped the series in Lubbock, 1-2, however they run-ruled the Red Raiders 10-2 in the finale.
Offensively, sophomores Rosie Davis and Tia Warsop have stood out, with the former leading the team in RBIs (29), while the latter holds the highest batting average on the team (.422) and ranks third in the Big 12 with a .519 on-base percentage. Senior Megan Bloodworth, the March 4 Big 12 Player of the Week, has also been a force at the plate, slashing .340/.396/.596 with four home runs and 11 RBIs. Graduate transfer Megan Delgadillo (Cal State Fullerton) is batting .391 and paces the team with 20 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.
In the circle, Washington transfer Ruby Meylan is performing at an All-America level. She was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on March 4 after going 6-0 and striking out 30 in 23.1 scoreless innings. On the year, the junior from Omaha, Nebraska, is 9-1 with a 1.39 ERA to go with 86 strikeouts in 65.1 innings of work. Sophomore right-hander Katie Kutz began the season as the least experienced pitcher on the staff, however she has blossomed into one of the Cowgirls’ top arms. The McLean, Va., native was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 18 following a 3-0 outing (all against top-25 opponents) in four appearances at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational to go with a 1.20 ERA and 10 strikeouts. On the season, she is 7-2 with a 2.58 ERA.
