WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State battled Baylor to a 0-0 draw Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field as the fourth-ranked Cowgirls remained unbeaten on the season.
OSU is now 3-0-1 on the season, while the Bears are 0-1-3.
The physical match was tight throughout as OSU held a slight edge in shots, 14-13, including the only attempt by either team in extra time, while BU had five corner kicks to four for the Cowgirls. The Bears were whistled for 19 fouls to just six for the visitors.
Both goalies – Emily Plotz for OSU and Jennifer Wandt for BU – recorded six saves, with Plotz’ total marking her season high as she collected her second shutout.
In the opening half, the Cowgirls tallied eight shots and just missed getting on the scoreboard on a number of occasions. The first of those came in the eighth minute when Gabriella Coleman took a long pass from Olyvia Dowell on the wing before drilling a shot that went just inches wide of the far post.
Dowell had numerous chances of her own as the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week recorded a game-high seven shots.
During the first 90 seconds of the second half, Wandt made a pair of impressive saves, the first on a blast off the foot of Dowell. On ensuing corner kick, the BU goalie dove to stop a header by Kim Rodriguez to keep the shutout intact.
The Bears created seven shots in the second half, but Plotz saved both that were on frame, those coming in the 80thand 85th minutes.
OSU returns to action Friday when the Cowgirls host TCU at Neal Patterson Stadium
