IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State was picked to finish fifth in the 2022 Big 12 Conference standings in a preseason vote of the league’s head coaches.
The Cowgirls are coming off a season in which they finished fourth in the league with a 4-3-1 mark. OSU posted a 9-6-3 overall record a year ago and returns six starters from that squad.
Defending champion TCU is the favorite to retain its crown, earning seven first-place votes, while Texas was picked second and West Virginia third. Up next was Texas Tech before the Cowgirls rounded out the top half of the poll.
OSU opens the season Thursday at Omaha before returning to Stillwater for its home opener Sunday against Missouri State at Neal Patterson Stadium.
